You cannot enter new sales orders for customers on credit hold.Bill To Screen |
To get to the Bill To screen, open the
Organization screen, select the customer, and click the BILLTO attribute.
Default Credit Limit
The default credit limit amount for new customers can be set in the
CID Maintenance screen.
Credit Limit Calculation
A customer's credit limit is calculated by adding the current AR balance to the current Open Sales Order amount.
For example, a customer with a $10,000 credit limit will exceed that amount if you enter a sales order for $1000 and they already have a $9100 balance in AR.
The
Past Due Days Limit creates the same restrictions as exceeding a credit limit. If an invoice has remain unpaid for a period greater than the "Past Due Days Limit," then the customer is said to have exceeded their credit limit.
Credit Limits are calculated by the BILLTO, not the SOLDTO. This is done under the belief that the organization required to remit payment for the invoice (the Bill To) is where credit should be maintained.
Credit Limit Restrictions
By default, a new Sales Order with an Order Amount greater than $0 cannot be saved if the customer has exceeded their credit limit.
There is a security right (EXCEEDCREDITLIMIT) that will allow a user to exceed the credit limit and enter new orders for customers over their limit.
The
Do Not Exceed checkbox on the Bill To screen overrides the EXCEEDCREDITLIMIT security right. It will prevent anyone from entering a new sales order for a customer that is over their credit limit and has the
Do Not Exceed box checked.
Credit Hold Restrictions
The
Credit Hold checkbox prevents anyone from entering a new sales order for that customer, regardless of their credit limit and current AR balance. You can enter quotes for the customer, but they cannot be converted into Sales Orders until the credit hold is removed.
Credit Hold Exceptions
Clicking the Credit Limit hyperlink, users can allow selected orders and quotes to be sent through the order process while still keeping the customer on credit hold.
Users can also use the Credit Hold Processing screen to always allow certain processes to move forward when a customer is on credit hold. For instance if a customer has an order in production and they are placed on credit hold, the order can be allowed to finish out and be shipped while still locking down the customer to new orders.
