Price Matrix General Information

The Price Matrix allows users to create custom pricing based on mark ups on an estimated cost of materials, freight, and various processing.

Set Up

Users will need to create the PRICEMATRIX item attribute that points to the pmsetup form. This will allow the price matrix to function based on any item having the attribute.

Users will also need to set up the PRICEMATRIXDEF rule which will create the mark up types that can be linked to items and GL accounts. This will establish the sort, and can default a base cost mark up or margin amount.

On the item attribute jump screen, users can establish Price Matrix default on an item by item basis. This set up is not required to use the price matrix, but does allow more specific item level customization.

Instructions and Use

When adding an item with the Price Matrix attribute to an order, the "Sell Price" text on the line item entry is now blue and links to a jump screen. Any defaults should automatically fill in. The top units correspond to the units of the cost and price amounts (not necessarily the selling unit). Users can select other units and they should convert accurately. This allows users to input a cost according to one unit and price it in another. Users will enter in estimated costs for the material, outside processing, inside processes, production, freight, or whatever else they have defined in the price matrix rule, and apply their mark up. The total cost and price should show at the bottom in terms of the units selected on the top.

Once saved, the price will fill in and be grayed out, unable to be changed except through editing in the price matrix.

It is important to note that the costs totaled will be applied to the sell unit cost field, however the shipped cost that will be used will be the true cost of any material and the actual processing costs applied, NOT the estimated costs used in pricing.
