General Information
Default Menu Location: Maintain >> General Ledger >> GL Groups
Screen Name: TRANCAT
Function: GL Groups are used to drive revenue and costs to sub-accounts in the general ledger.
Working hand in hand with
Transaction Categories, the GL Group will mask over a particular part of the account number to offer more options in driving revenue and costs to the GL.
GL Groups may be applied to: Sales Order Types, Warehouses, Departments, Account Managers, Salespeople, Resources, and Solution Codes.

Fields
Name: The name of the GL Group that will be used on other screens to specify which GL Group is being applied. 20 character maximum length.
Description: A longer description of what the GL Group will be used for.
Enter the segment override in the corresponding Revenue and COGS account fields. Click the
CA button to copy your first entry down to the other fields.
Hierarchy of GL Accounts
General Ledger accounts can be stored as defaults to many different records in Adjutant. This means when a module contains more then one account the system files the GL accounts to correctly place the data. The following list is an example from the Sales Order screen; keep in mind the one used will be the last account found.
Sales Order Type: stored in Rule Maintenance
Warehouses: On the Sales Order header, stored in the warehouse record
Department: On the Sales Order header, stored in Rule Maintenance (only applies to Sales Orders where Time and Material is billed)
Account Manager: On the Sales Order header, stored in the Account Manager attribute from the contacts screen
Sales Person: On the Sales Order header, stored in the Sales Person attribute from the contacts screen
Where Time and Labor are ApplicableResource: GL Group stored in the Resource attribute from the contact screen
